Leadership in a business is very similar to coaching in sport. You work with people in order to develop and reach your defined goals. You try to get
the best out of the people by supporting them, giving feedback and helping them to learn something new every day. Therefore one has to know how he can influence those around him, how to inspire and how to honor hard and successful work. I was invited to share my thoughts with the management team from Statoil at a meeting in Vienna. I talked about our “business philosophy” in Norwegian ski jumping and tried to point out common aspects about  how to approach difficult situations, the building of team spirit and the right touch with individuals and the team as a whole. I also got some inspiration from the business side during the discussions with some of the members of this team. I realized that sport can also learn from high performance and organizational structures in business life. We are all looking for perfection in our daily work and that takes us a step forward.
